TRUE HERO

Sergeant Gabriel Martinez, a Marine who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan, went with a few other inspiring people to visit Celeste Corcoran, a double amputee from the Boston Marathon bombing. Only he could provide the kind of comfort and hope she probably needs right now.

We are all children of our Heavenly Father. People are essentially good. We have to keep remembering that!

STAAR WARS

So we're doing our first round of standardized testing around here, interestingly called the STAAR Tests. Our little people are stressed! It's been pushed and pushed so much lately that they can't help but feel the anxiety. I don't blame the teachers. I think it's out of their hands, but as a room mom, I had to offer some comfort:

I have one more idea for the very end at Day 2, but I'm still trying to get permission since it's not an approved "treat day." ReDONCulous! When did elementary school get so strict and lame? JUST KIDDING all you health freaks...okay maybe not totally kidding. ;)

SUPERMAN

My boyfriend

Once upon a time I was a 4 year old little girl, and my Daddy took me to see Superman with Christopher Reeve. (He was my first boyfriend along with Harrison Ford.) I mean who didn't love Superman and Han Solo?

Flash forward 15 years, and I'm on summer break from BYU visiting my college roommate who's from California. We went on the tram tour at Universal and saw the sites. On our tour we passed by what looked like an active set, but everyone seemed to have gone on break. The operator stopped briefly then moved on. My roomie and I were sitting in the back and on some whim I decided to turn around to look at the set. From behind a flag, out stepped Christopher Reeve! He looked at me and must have seen the shocked 4 year old little girl face I'm sure I had because he quickly put his finger up to his lips to quiet me. Then he smiled...but it was too late: "SUPERMAN!" I called out. His smile broke out into a huge grin and he waved. It took about .000333 seconds for everyone to turn around and "my moment" with Superman passed as everyone clamored to the back of the tram to take pictures. But I'll never forget. Because for that brief one minute that it took for that to happen...I believed...

With the newest Man of Steel trailer out today, I thought I'd share my Superman moment.

CANNOT WAIT for June 14th, 2013!!

I'm a HUGE Cavill fan as well, so I'm excited to see his take on our superhero.
